This week we celebrated the 5th birthday of our first born, AKA our Pit-Mix.
Each year I like to make sure he knows he has a day that is all about him. My husband blames me for the dog always trying to get into people's gifts because I've taught him the ward "present" but until Princess C was on the scene he was our baby boy.
Five years is a special milestone so to make the occasion and I decided to go a bit overboard (you can only imagine what my daughter is in store for) and throw him a themed party. Now what theme would work best for a 5 year old, boy, dog? PAW PATROL of course! Duh!
We invited a few friends over to the house who were more than understanding about the get together and even brought presents for our Prince. With he new baby I have tried very hard t make sure that he does not feel neglected, though it is hard because she does take up quiet a bit of time and attention. Prior to the baby he always slept on our bed and I wanted to make sure we maintained that even after she arrived so he knew he always had a place to escape during her bouts of crying. Don't worry, we don't bed-share or co-sleep with the baby. She has been sleeping in her crib, in our room since we brought her home from the hospital.
In terms of the food for the party it was more Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade as I mostly purchased frozen food that would be great for picking along with a veggie and fruit platter. I made sure to get all the staples; mozzarella sticks, loaded potatoes, curly fries, meatballs plus hummus, salsa and spinach and artichoke dip. If you're reading this and are upset by my food choices just remember I never claimed to an all natural mama, I have not deceived you.
Tell me, have you ever thrown a party for your pet?
