6/28/2019

The letter of the day is B for birthday! We recently celebrated my daughter's second birthday and we spent her special day at "Elmo's house" (Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA). Thinking of taking your toddler to Sesame Place? Let me tell you all the ways you can make their day even more exciting with a flick of Abby's magic wand!

Sesame Place Details

Location: 100 Sesame Road, Langhorne, PA, 19047

Hours: These vary depending on the day of the week and the time of the year you are visiting but for the most part the park opens at 10AM and closes between 5PM & 8PM.

This year at Sesame Place it is more exciting than ever as Sesame Street is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary and Sesame Place is celebrating its 39th Birthday (with special celebration day on July 30th).

I opted for the Basic Birthday Bundle for my toddler as I did not see her keeping a cape on all day and I wasn't sure how she was going to react to characters (prior to our trip we had some ups & downs) so I didn't know if the meet & greet would be torturous for her.

I was quite pleased with the value of the bundle, I noticed pins ranged in price from $5.99 to $9.99 and the bubbles were also around $9 in the gift shop. My toddlers LOVES her bean bag Abby and she also got a sticker that said "Today is my birthday". That being said, I think next time, if still offered I would get the Deluxe Bundle because she did so well meeting characters on this trip!

Dine with Elmo & Friends

Available every day, you and your family can have breakfast, lunch or dinner with Elmo & Friends! Located inside the park (so park admission is needed) this dinning experience includes a buffet, character meet & greets and a dance party!

During each dine everyone sings "Happy Birthday" to anyone celebrating. There are cupcakes & cookies included on the buffet so you can grab one for your birthday boy or girl OR purchase something extra special (more on that in a minute).
For me, getting up and out in the morning is already a struggle and I did not need the added stress of trying to make a breakfast reservation and lunch was offered at 11:30AM or 1PM and sometimes it is hard to know where you are going to be in the middle of the day, so we opted for the dinner. The dinner that begins at 4PM.

Prior to sitting at our table we took a photo outside that was printed and given to us as part of the dine. As soon as we sat down our server took our drink order, and provided a highchair and a sling for the infant carrier. Strollers are not permitted inside the dinning hall.

We checked in at 3:45PM and the characters entered the room at 4:15PM. Checking in early allowed us to grab food without waiting in line and use the family-style restrooms inside the dinning hall. Please note there are only two bathrooms inside the hall.

This character dine was so much fun and lasted just a touch over 60 minutes. A fun portion of the experience is when the characters take the stage to sing some of their signature songs. Once the characters are done visiting tables there is a big dance party for all in attendance with the characters! Nothing more fun than dancing to "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" with Grover and Cookie Monster!

Birthday Upgrades Available at the Dines

As I mentioned, there are cupcakes and cookies included on the buffet (and they are delicious) but there are also upgrades you can purchase if you are attending a dine with a larger group and want to really turn your dine into a birthday party!

Sesame Place offers three different sized cakes:
9" Round for $25* serves 12-16 people
1/4 Sheet Cake for $25* serves 12-20 people
1/2 Sheet Cake for $30 serves 24-40 people

Please note the site says these are vanilla cakes with vanilla icing and do not include any personalization.

Extras You Can Do Prior to Your Visit

Matching family shirts!
My toddler had a Sesame Street themed shirt featuring a large number 2 while I wore a shirt that read "MOM of the birthday girl!" featuring Elmo,, my husband wore "DAD of the birthday girl!" shirt featuring Cookie Monster and my infant daughter was in a onesie that said "SISTER of the birthday girl!" with Abby Cadabby on it.

A festive birthday hat or headband
Prior to our trip I purchased a birthday hat on a headband from Sesame Place's official website. She wore it during most of the dine, much to my (very happy) surprise!
If your toddler loves Sesame Street and you think a trip to Sesame Place is in your future, why not celebrate their birthday there?!
