Attending a College Football Game With a Baby

11/6/2017

Recently we attended a college football game with our baby for the first time. Being that it is November and the weather is getting chilly (and gametime wasn't until 3:30pm) I was nervous about her being too cold, I was also concerned the noise might be too much for her. Having experienced my first sporting event with a baby I have some tips to share.

Layers. Layers. Layers.

The football game is outside, in the fall/early winter. If you are taking baby to to an event in warm weather this tip isn't for you.

Layering up will help keep baby warm. I chose a long-sleeve onesie and a pair of socks for her to wear under one of her sleep & play zip-ups, and a bomber jacket on top. On her head I went with a cotton cap and the jacket had a hood.

Wear Baby For Free Hands & Extra Warmth

On top of all of her layers, I also wore her into the stadium in my Baby Bjorn carrier (original).

This carrier is super comfortable, both the hubby and I have worn it and it works for both of us. Very easy to adjust the fit to make it most comfortable for you.

Having her on me also provided warmth, as stated above, if you don't need the warmth at least this will allow for free hands to cheer (and eat!)

Buy Ear Protection For Baby

Aside from the weather, another issue that arises when taking a 4 month old to a sporting event is the noise level. I was super worried about the cheering, band playing, video board and all of the noises that accompany a great play or a bad call.
Luckily I found a bunch of options on Amazon for baby ear protection. I ended up purchasing the Baby Noise Cancelling Headphones by BB&Pro, in pink.

C didn't seem to mind having them on her head either. In fact she was asleep in the carrier with the ear protection on while we walked around outside of the stadium and even after we sat in our seats. They fit over her hat and the didn't seem to squish her even with the head support of the carrier.

This was our first sporting event as a family and I'd say it was a great success! We took C out of the carrier once she woke up and she was happy as a clam and never pulled on her ear protection, she was all smiles (even if the home team lost). We will be hitting up more sporting events in the future!
The price is great and the sizing was perfect for her little noggin. We got a ton of "awwww"s from people as we walked by and those in our section just thought she was the cutest!
