FernGully: The Last RainForest | Film Synopsis
Crysta (Samantha Mathis) is a fairy who lives in FernGully, a rainforest in Australia, and has never seen a human before. In fact, she is told they are extinct. But when a logging company comes near the rainforest, she sees that they do exist, and even accidentally shrinks one of them: a boy named Zak (Jonathan Ward). Now her size, Zak sees the damage that the company does and helps Crysta to stop not only them, but an evil entity named Hexxus (Tim Curry), who feeds off pollution.

FernGully: The Last Rainforest | Review
FernGully: The Last Rainforest illustrates the importance of conservation and this message is just as important today as it was 30 years ago. It is this messaging and the absolutely star-studded cast that make FernGully: The Last Rainforest such an incredible animated film.
The message about conservation and being kind to our planet Earth have aged very well, some things in the film however, have not aged well (in absolutely hilarious fashion). It isn't often that you find characters in animated films use outdate lingo by when Zak used the phrase "bodacious babe" I couldn't help by burst out laughing! This phrase coupled with words like "tubular" and his walkman headset point to just how 90's this movie really is! Now back to that cast. Robin Williams, Tim Curry and Christian Slater - oh my! Robin Williams shines (and soars) as Batty. I have 0 notes on his performance. It is pure, Robin Williams perfection. Tim Curry's Hexxus is frightening and may cause younger viewers to be scared as he transformers into a skeleton-like figure that also appears to be on fire at one point towards the end of the film. The animation is clear and bright in this remastered 30th anniversary edition (Crysta's eyes are a beautiful and striking green!) The soundtrack throughout the film is fun Robin Williams raps in one song and there's a song by "Funky Cold Medina" performer, Tone Loc! FernGully: The Last Rainforest will be a fun watch for your next family movie night! Related: Shrek 20th Anniversary FernGully: The Last Rainforest | Free Coloring Sheets
