DIY Feather Centerpieces

I'm at it again folks! Trying my best to recreate pins I find on Pinterest and sharing the results. Recently we baptized our second daughter and since baptisms occur so early in the day (and on Sundays) it isn't really feasible to get flowers for the centerpieces, shops aren't open that early (or at all) for delivery in the morning and while we could have gotten them the day prior, I was afraid they may have started to droop and wilt overnight. So I started searching on Pinterest for non-floral centerpiece ideas that seemed easy enough to make on my own.

Searching around I started to see multiple pins featuring feathers! Some centerpieces where more elaborate than others but I thought I could pull off a small, feather centerpiece along the same lines of this one. The theme of the day was purple and I thought a mix of purple and white feathers would look nicely on the tables.

Step 1

Stick the feathers into the styrofoam balls. Each pack of feathers comes with 20 pieces, we had 5 tables at the party which meant each centerpiece would look nice and full with 8 feathers each.

I arranged the feathers in alternating colors.

Originally I did not have the styrofoam balls but when I tried sticking the feathers just into the vase of marbles they were flopping all over the place going every which way. The styrofoam helped keep the feathers standing upright.

Fill the vase with marbles.

By now my family has thrown a lot of parties (baby shower, baptism, 1st birthday) and we have gathered a nice selection of materials for DIY decorations. I already had glass vases that were going to work perfectly for these centerpieces. The 1.4 inch styrofoam balls fit inside of the vases with plenty of room for the marbles.
I placed some marbles in the vase first, dropped in the styrofoam ball with the feathers attached and then dropped marbles inside the vase until the styrofoam was covered.

Super simple and I was pretty happy with how they turned out.
