Mama Needs a Drink; 3 Easy to Make Drinks at Home

I'm not sure how I can say this sentence without sounding like an alcoholic but, prior to getting pregnant my tolerance for boozy beverages was way higher than it has been now, post-baby/post-breastfeed attempt. I have found that I need to ease my way back into drinking. I had a Blue Moon one night and legitimately felt drunk. Headache and all.

For example, the hubby and I went out together recently and I ordered a rum and Coke, plus extra Coke because my drink was so strong I needed to turn one drink into two. Now I was never a whiskey-straight drinker but I was able to hold my own on a night out (unless there were "mind erasers" involved but that is a story for a different time).

What can a mama drink? Well, there's always wine! But if you are looking for more variety might I suggest the following:

Kahlua and Milk
Two ingredients. Add a shot of Kahlua to milk in a whiskey glass, ice is optional. I personally don't add ice because ice and milk don't go together in world, but to each their own! This is great to enjoy at night once the baby is asleep with something sweet.

Baileys Irish Cream Coffee
Two ingredients. Add a shot of Baileys Irish Cream to your mug of coffee and viola! Works if you add it to decaf too and can be a great option to have at home once the babies are in bed.

Malibu Bay Breeze
Three ingredients: Malibu Coconut Rum, Cranberry Juice and Pineapple Juice. Normally this is made equal parts of all three ingredients but I lean towards liking pineapple juice more than cranberry so for me I cut the cran in half and add extra pine. This is the drink I should have ordered when hubby and I were at the bar.

Momming is hard work. So kick back and have a drink! Tell me your go-to drinks when the kids are in bed (or when dad is on duty).
