Must-Have Items for the Pumping Mama

It's official, I'm a mom of two under two! Now that this is my second time around the block I feel a bit more confident in the sense that at least EVERYTHING won't be new, I'm sure our second born will have things come up that our first never did but for right now I'm feeling more confident in my abilities. Case in point; breastfeeding. The first time around I really struggled, even ended up in the ER (thanks, Mastitis) and ultimately ended up pumping for about four months. This time, I've headed straight to the pump to (hopefully) avoid another trip to the ER and because I know what worked for me last time and what didn't. We supplement with formula as we go and I've been pumping up a storm. Here are a few items that I feel are must-haves for any pumping mama.

This product has really helped prevent dry and cracking skin. Also, it smells amazing! I apply prior to pumping as I feel it helps everything glide nicely.

I have a confession. I purchased these storage bags last year and did not open the box until last week!

With my first, I was never ahead of the game enough production wise to be able to freeze any milk. Now I've been able to freeze two bags worth a day!

While this might not sound like much since there are women out there with deep freezers full of breastmilk, this small stash feels like quite the accomplishment for me.

Needing to pump hands-free goes without saying. Someone always needs something and I've learned that with two under two, Someone. Is. Always. Crying.

Having your hands free allows you to bounce or rock baby or be handed princess stuffed animals from your one year old.

These bad boys are great for helping prevent any leaks that may occur between sessions.

These particular ones are disposable but there are plenty of reusable ones out there. I tend to like things that are "one and done" since it doesn't create more things for me to have to clean.

What else do I like about these pads? They are super soft!

Have you tried the silicone pumps (like the Haakaa)? I've heard great things, but I was towards the end of breastfeeding with my daughter when I found out about it.

Hi Jeana,

I have not! Thanks for the tip, I'll have to look into it!
