Stitch Fix Review: Stitch Fix Maternity

7/16/2018

I've written about my experiences with two previous Fixes from StitchFix and they have been very positive. Now that I am pregnant, I thought I would give their Maternity Fix a try and see if the experience would be just as positive.
I will start by saying this, being that the Fix was being shipped in July I was expecting to see Maternity dresses for summer, when I opened the box I was let down at first. I can't blame my stylist, I didn't say I was looking for summer clothes in the notes prior to receiving this Fix but I did think given the timing it would be implied.

What I Received

Item 1: Laila Jayde - Vance Maternity Ruched Sleeve Knit Top, $44

The material for this top is super soft and the overall look is casual. The sides and sleeves are ruched which takes it up a notch from just a regular t-shirt.

Item 2: Full Moon - Bastille Maternity Tulip Sleeve Blouse, $38

This top doesn't scream "summer" to me. It has sleeves, though they are small capped ones and I think this shade of red is more of a fall hue.

The material is not clingy, somewhat silky and appears to be prone to wrinkles.
Item 3: Liverpool - Maternity Elizabeth Super Skinny Jean, $78

I was disappointed to see a run of the mill pair of Maternity jeans, I thought this pick lacked a bit of creativity.

The jeans were straight-legged and the band around the belly was very stretchy and felt comfortable, not at all constricting on my bump.

Item 4: Rene C - Tenor Maternity Pleat Front Blouse, $54

This is perfect summer top with a floral print on the navy background. It is pleated in the front which is a style I have yet to see on a Maternity shirt, usually the tops are empire waists.
Item 5: Stork & Babe - Nanci Maternity Knit Back Belted Blouse, $56

Speaking of empire waists, this buttoned blouse has a small belt that ties in the back. This material, much like the red top seems prone to wrinkles.

What I Kept (and Sent Back)

Though I originally mocked the fact that there were Maternity jeans in this Fix they were the first thing I decided I would keep. Being that I will be pregnant into the fall it seems like a logical thing to have more than one pair of jeans that I can wear.

I also really liked both of the sleeveless tops, I think they are both tops I can wear now while the weather is still warm. Both of these tops can be worn with shorts or jeans and the green, belted blouse is currently still long enough for me to wear with leggings.

The casual, ruched sleeve top was super comfy and when I tried on all my pieces, the hubby really liked this one. I decided I would keep this as well.

4 down, 1 to go. The Tulip sleeve, red blouse was not my favorite though it did fit me very nicely and it is something that I can wear in the fall. It was also, ironically, the cheapest item in the box.

When you purchase your entire fix you receive a 25% discount, when crunching numbers it just made sense to go ahead and keep the red blouse as opposed to sending it back. Also, I will need pieces for fall and that is a great one.

For those keeping score, I kept this entire Fix. 5 out of 5 items.

Conclusion

Originally I thought I would get a Maternity Fix now, in July and then a second Maternity Fix later in September thinking this Fix would focus on summer pieces and I'd keep one or two and the September Fix would focus on fall pieces.

Since this Fix was a mix of both summer and fall I kept the entire Fix and opted to not receive another Maternity Fix. In the end I probably ended up spending the same on this Fix as I would have between two.

I've mentioned before the importance of providing StitchFix a style board on Pinterest and I think it still rings true even for Maternity pieces. I think the stylist selected colors and prints that I've pinned and as a result I kept the whole box.

What I will point out, though I have never tried, is the notes portion for each Fix. I'll never know what the Fix would have looked like if I had written that I wanted summer dresses and styles. But next time I get a Fix, instead of assuming something will be there, I'm going to write a note.
