Stitch Fix Review; My 2nd Fix

2/12/2018

Two months ago I signed up for StitchFix and wrote about the pieces I received, the items I kept, the items I sent back and the overall experience. I received my second fix this month and I have to say, I loved this Fix even more than my first!

I mentioned in my previous posting about StitchFix the importance of providing a link to your Pinterest fashion board and I cannot stress this enough. This Fix was basically the living embodiment of my board.

One change I made from my last Fix was opting to not receive shoes. While I love shoes, they are hard to purchase without trying on and the last thing I wanted to happen was to love the entire box minus the shoes and miss out on the discount you receive from buying the whole box.

What I Received

Item 1: Nine Britton - floral print, knit dress WITH POCKETS. Oh yes, when I tried this on I felt like I hit the jackpot when I was able to slide my hands into pockets. This is a great dress for all seasons. The material is soft and lightly layered so it can be worn in the spring or in the summer. If I wear a sweater and tights it would be great for winter and if I put on a denim jacket, perfect for fall.

Item 2: Honey Blush - Textured Open Cardigan. This is a thick and heavy sweater. The length is perfect to pair with leggings and a top. I can belt it closed or leave it open hanging. The color compliments the dress I received in this Fix so I can wear tights and booties and turn that dress into the perfect going out outfit in colder months.
Item 3: Andrew Marc Performance -  athleisure top. This is not two pieces. The neckline gives the illusion of having an attached tank under this shirt but it is just for show. The material of this top is super soft and very comfortable. Perfect to pair with jeans. The only thing I'm not sure about is the length of the sleeves, there aren't quite long sleeves and they are too long to be considered 3/4 sleeves.

Item 4: Articles of Society - Skinny Jeans. These are amazing. Slightly frayed at the bottom, super smooth and perfect length to wear under over-the-knee boots or with Chucks for a more causal look.
Item 5: Bancroft - Hammered Silver Pendant. Since I opted out of shoes, this round's accessory is a simple, silver necklace. The length of the chain brings the pendant about half way between my chest and belly button.

What I really like about this Fix compared to the last is the pieces provided actually make up outfits. The sweater compliments the dress, the athleisure  top is great for the jeans. I can wear the silver pendant with the dress, I can also wear it with the top if I was trying to dress the top up a bit.

My first initial reaction was to keep the entire box.

Price breakdown:
Knit Dress - $48.00
Cardigan - $64.00
'Love' Top - $44.00
Skinny Jean - $64.00
Silver Pendant - $28.00

Total for all of the items, $248.00. If you buy the entire box you receive a 25% off discount and then you apply your already paid $20 styling fee and I can receive all 5 items for $166. This is supper appealing and I think it paid off not to have shoes in this box because my last fix shoes were $99. That is a big difference in the grand total.

What I Kept (and Sent Back)

I struggled a lot in making this decision. I thought the dress was cute, loved the material and love that it had pockets. I could see myself wearing it with the sweater or with a denim jacket. The only problem? Because I loved this dress so much, I already own a few that are quite similar. This went back.

Next up, the sweater. I love the feel, fit and quality of the sweater, but did I like the color? If it was black, navy or caramel this would be a keep without a question. Since I wasn't sure if I could make outfits with this sweater with pieces I already have and without keeping the dress that matched it so well I decided this sweater too would go back.

The 'love' top was super cute and very comfy but the sleeves threw me. I'm not sure if the sizing wasn't right or if that was the cut of the shirt. If I scrunched the sleeves up to be at my elbows it looked fine but is that a smart purchasing decision? To buy a top I always have to scrunch up the sleeves? This one went back.

The jeans were perfect. I love these jeans. These would be staying home with me without a doubt.

The silver pendant is really cute too and for full disclosure, I already have a gold necklace in a similar style and I've said that I really wish I had a silver necklace that could be worn with outfits where gold wasn't working. However, at $28 it was kind of expensive for a costume jewelry type piece and since I wasn't keeping everything else I decided to send this back too.

Conclusion

My stylist really hit this one out of the park. She really understood my style, so much so I already owned similar items! I am going to hold off on receiving a Fix for a while now. But I will be using them again. Want to receive a Fix? Sign up using my referral link and you get to try it for FREE! No $20 styling fee. If you don't link anything in your fix it doesn't matter. Send it all back and you are out NOTHING.
