Baby Products I Love and the Ones I Didn't Need

Do you know a soon-to-be mama or a brand new mama? If you are looking to buy her something for her little one take a look at my list of products I love plus a few I got that I didn't need.

Products I Love

The Fischer Price, Sit-Me-Up Seat. This has been great now that Princess C is supporting her neck and head more in the sitting position. We started putting her in this chair at 3 months old because I felt like she was spending too much time with her head resting on something and she couldn't spend her entire day on her tummy. The teething toys attached to the seat also keep her occupied and they don't go anywhere when she "throws" them when she is done.

Summer Infant 3-Stage Deluxe Super-Seat. I like things that serve more than one purpose and this seat will grow with my C. We first put her in it (as shown) at 4 months old, the spinning ball on this tray keeps her very entertained as she learns she can control the noise by making the ball spin. Once she is older the activity tray will come off and it is a booster seat.
Dekor Classic Hands-Free Diaper Pail. I know what you're thinking. A garbage can? Really? Yes, really! This is a less expensive version of the more known brand Diaper Genie. If you really want to be a star with the new mama in your life, go ahead and throw in a
Dekor Classic Refill Two Count
It sounds cliche, but babies go to the bathroom, A LOT and this diaper pail keeps the smell in. Even if there is already a garbage can your new mama thinks they are going to use, once they get a few whiffs of a dirty diaper they'll run out and get one of these anyway!

Baby Bottle Drying Grass. This seemed so silly when we registered for it but actually, I use this every day. This drying grass is on my counter next to my drying rack and honestly, without it I'm not sure how I would dry bottles. Would i just put them on paper towels all over my counter tops? You can also get fun accessories to stick in the grass:

Products I Didn't Need

Blankets. If your friend is a soon-to-be mama or a mama to a newborn (heck, a less than one year old) please do her a solid and don't give her a blanket as a gift. While it is nice and soft and sweet to use when you are holding them, the blankets really do not get used all that often. Babies can't sleep with them, so you may wrap them in one while you rock them to sleep but they are going to get rolled out of it when they are put in their crib.

"White Noise" Machines. We registered for one, received three and barely use one of them. The one we did open also played nursery rhymes and Mozart. The ones we did not open only had nature sounds, heart beats (which in theory is sweet but when you're listening to it bounce off your walls, kind of creepy) and ocean waves. I prefer to listen to music and when I worked at a daycare during nap time we played CDs with lullabies on them which worked out great. The white noise seems odd to me though I am sure there are reasons why people like them so much, but unless it plays music too, I don't recommend them.
