I kept seeing KidBox ads on Facebook so I finally decided to give it a go because what did I have to lose? Unlike Stitch Fix there was no styling fee so if I didn't like any of the items I could send them ALL back in their pre-paid shipping bag and be done with it. And that is exactly what I did. This article contains referral links for KidBox. Singing up through these links may result in me earning credit in my account at no additional cost to you. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. You can read my comparisons of KidBox and Stitch Fix Kids to see I took some time to decide which program to try. My review of Kid Box was not stellar, I'll admit I may have been a bit harsh in my feedback. Perhaps I didn't NEED to call one of the outfits they sent "hideous" but, hindsight. When I received an email from KidBox offering a second chance at their spring box I was intrigued and then they gave me a special offer of keeping the whole box (if I wished) for $40 instead of the Baby Box price of $68. Since my little girl wears 24 months she is still in their Baby Box size but it is still purchased from KidBox. Baby by KidBox Spring RedemptionIn the first Baby Box, our "basics" selection were a pack of onesies, which I explicitly stated on our profile we did not need since my toddler has more or less outgrown them and for ease of diaper changes/potty training we like shirt and short/pant/skirt sets. I saw the pack of onesies as a total throw away item. This time around our "basics" was a pajama set. Still Pattern Mixing...Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm the weird one. I stated in our profile that I do not like mixing patterns. If the shirt has stripes, the pants should be solid (not floral or polka dot). That's why I was shocked to see a Dalmatian and striped outfit in our first box. I mean, REALLY? Did they read the profile? While I reiterated it AGAIN in our feedback prior to this redemption box it seems they are still at it. Though admittedly this is mild. My FavoritesI was disappointed with the color choices in our first KidBox. I requested bright colors; pink, yellow, purple, ect. I didn't really get that in that ill-fated first box. That's why I was so happy to see these two outfits. They were awesome! My Least FavoritesThe redemption email mentioned this box would include an extra item. I'm not sure which item was the extra but this bow and sock set was kind of odd.
With that being said I really liked this box and I really liked the discounted price of $40 talk about a STEAL for these items. This last outfit was my least favorite but there was a redeeming quality to it when I realized that I could swap out the pants from this outfit and pair it with the top from the BCBG Girls: Girl Power shirt. Then this top could be worn with any pair of jeans/jeggings/shorts.
Bonus Outfit! The VerdictI kept it all. The pajamas were useable and the outfits were great. The bow/sock set was a strange throw in but the pros totally outweighed the cons on this one. Plus, as I mentioned I was getting this entire box for $40!!
One thing that is amazing about KidBox is when you keep an entire box they make a charitable donation to your pick of their provided charities. Everyone wins! Full disclosure, it was time for us to receive a summer box but I have declined, for now. Time will tell if we will give KidBox another go!
