Plum Organic Baby Bowls Review

4/26/2018

It is important to introduce new flavors to our babies that way when they are older they (hopefully) are not picky eaters. Plum Organics has come up with some very unique flavor combinations in their line of Baby Bowls that combine flavors that your baby may already know with ones that they probably don't; I'm talking raspberry mixed with barley and mango mixed with turmeric.
I received free samples of Plum Organics Baby Bowls via BzzAgent. I've also been given a coupon to share with you which can be found at the bottom of this post. The thoughts expressed in this post are my own.

Packaging

The Baby Bowls are conveniently packaged (as the name suggests) in bowls that are ready to be served to your baby. Stage 2, which I will be discussing, is recommended for babies 6 months and  up.

Under the lid the bowl is further sealed with plastic that you'll have to pull off. Be careful not to squeeze the bowl while pulling the plastic back as it will result in food all over you, not that I speak from experience or anything... OK I totally speak from experience!

On the bowl itself you'll notice the days of the week, this is to track freshness if baby does not finish the whole bowl. There is an arrow along with a little square on the lid that can be lined up with the day of the week the bowl was first opened.

If your baby is anything like my princess, this tracker won't be necessary (see below image of a totally demolished Baby Bowl).

The bowls are recyclable and made from non-BPA plastic. The Baby Bowls design is also patented.

Flavors

As I mentioned the flavor combos are very unique in comparison to other baby food brands. So unique in fact that I was a bit nervous introducing baby girl to them. Cue the Google searches:
Is it OK to offer a baby barley?
Can babies have chia and cardamom?
What is cardamom?

Once I realized that Plum Organics is not in the business of introducing flavors that are bad for baby, in fact all of these ingredients are really GOOD for baby, I relaxed and let her enjoy them (after I tasted them first, of course).

Current Stage 2 flavors available are:
Apple Spinach Avocado
Banana Raspberry Barley
Beet Apple Strawberry Chia
Pumpkin Banana Papaya Cardamom
Apple Blackberry Oat
Mango Carrot Turmeric
Pear Cauliflower Cherry Raisin
Pear Sweet Potato Red Bell Pepper

I will say this, the familiar flavors, in my opinion are definitely the most prominent flavors and everything has been accepted by baby girl with a big open mouth.

Verdict

I would be a miss if I didn't mention cost in this review.  Based off of a quick online search, a 3.6oz Baby Bowl may run you around $1.29 compared to an 8oz Gerber container which costs about $1.43 each. Prices may vary depending on your local grocery store and any weekly sales they may offer. Thanks to Plum Organics and BzzAgent I have a coupon for Plum Organics Baby Bowls that can be found at the bottom of this post.

Trying these Baby Bowls has been great and judging off of the empty containers in my recycle bin I think my baby girl agrees. With Plum Organics you get better ingredients and a more unique flavor profile, your baby's taste buds will certainly appreciate supplementing a few bowls during meal time.
