New year. New me. (insert "Sure Jan" Brady Bunch GIF here). This year has me turning 30. Dun. Dun. Duuuunnnn. It also finds me a few months postpartum so I thought scheduling a fix for the beginning of the year would be a fun pick me up. This is the first fix I've gotten since an update to the Stitch Fix app that allows you to thumb up or down articles of clothing and I was super curious to see how that would translate into my fix. Stitch Fix Review; My 4th FixMy previous fix was sent to me while I was pregnant and I was so pleasantly surprised with the maternity wear they sent that I kept the whole box! The items have also been super wearable since delivering too. If you are pregnant I highly recommend checking out a maternity fix. |
Item 1: Fortune + Ivy - Adelaide Brushed Knit Dress, $44 Not a huge fan of the neckline, there is a tie in the back but I just didn't feel like this dress hung on me the way it was meant to. The sleeves felt a little snug and the material grabbed at my midsection in a way that would have been flattering 2 kids ago. |
What I Kept (and Sent Back)
It is always exciting receiving a fix because I know when I see the box on my porch it is going to be filed with clothes and clothes make me really happy. I was excited to see 5 articles of clothing again and not any jewelry because the jewelry is counted as one of the 5 pieces you receive and when they include it you miss out on an article of clothing which I don't think is fair.
Let's break down what has found its way to my closet and what is on its way back.
To start, I'll talk about the navy cardigan. I thought this piece was great! So great in fact I already own one and mine has pockets so this was NOT an upgrade. It went back.
The infinity scarf was super soft and I love the print but one thing I really do not need any more of is infinity scarves. I love a good scarf and I have a ton! The scarf went back.
The purple knit top from Emory Park? I kept it! I love the color and the cut out design plus it fit great, not too tight around my tummy and the material was nice and soft.
The two pieces that I identified the least with were the brushed knit floral dress and the one pocket blouse. The print on the blouse simply wasn't my style. It felt very busy to me and I just didn't see myself wearing it. The knit dress was a nice fabric however the three quarter sleeves were a bit tight and it clung around my midsection in a way I did not appreciate at all. Those two items went back.

Conclusion
I mentioned the Stich Fix app has added a feature that allows you to thumb up or down articles of clothing. This, I assume, allows for the stylists to see what you gravitate towards in addition to your style board on Pinterest. The feature is so addicting, at least for me any way. I love going through pieces of clothing and thumbing down ugly prints and what not.
The downside (if you can even call it that) to the stylists getting to know your style so well is that the pieces they send may start to look like pieces you already own. This is what I found happened to me this time around. The sweater and scarf were so close to things I already owned that I decided they were going back before I even tried them on.
This was a lesson for me in how I've been treating the tombs up or down feature. If I keep thumbing up things similar to what I already own, I'll get pieces that look like pieces I already own, so maybe I'll have to be a bit more adventurous and see if that helps.
All in all I was pleased with my fix. If you would like to try Stitch Fix for yourself, your first fix is free!
