Shimmer and Shine are two small genies who are BIG in my house.
"Magical Mischief" includes 8 Shimmer and Shine tales. Each tale runs about 13-14 minutes long. When watching Shimmer and Shine on TV, each 30 minute block is broken into 2 tales (unless otherwise advertised) the tales on this DVD are on individualized, each one has the opening theme song and ending credits. If you select "Play All" they'll play back to back to back. But, if you select, "Episode Selection" after each tale you'll be brought back to the episode menu, signaling that the tale is over. This is a great feature and helps me greatly when negotiating TV time with my preschooler, when I say "just one more", what would normally mean 30 minutes (when watching live TV), here is less than 15. My personal favorite included on this DVD, and what inspired me to create our own wishing bracelets is "Genie for a Day". Leah wishes she could grant wishes for someone and Boom! she gets her own wish granting bracelets and gets to fulfill three wishes! The first three steps are the same wether you are creating the messy or mess-free version of this craft.
Step 1 Start by cutting a paper towel roll into four pieces. Step 2 Next, a cut each of the four pieces along one of the seams to create a cuff.
Step 3
Shimmer and Shine's bracelets are adorned with gems, cut a diamond like shape (I free-handed mine) out of both green a pink construction paper. DIY Wish Granting Bands | Messy Version
Now for the fun part. If you like glitter and don't mind it getting, potentially, everywhere in your house - the messy version is for you.
If you'd rather not, scroll down for the mess-free version. Messy: Step 4 Spread glue over your paper towel roll bands, covering as much surface as you can. Messy: Step 5 Sprinkle, throw - however you'd like, glitter over the entire thing! Related: PAW Patrol Rubble on the Double DIY Traffic Cone Ring Toss Game
Messy: Step 6
Attach the gems to each band, you can use tape or more glue. Messy: Step 7 Mold the bands into a more rounded shape to be more cuff like. You may need to tape the band around you'd child's wrist depending on how small their hands are Messy: Step 8 Start granting wishes! DIY Wish Granting Bands | Mess-Free Version
Glitter not your thing? Don't worry, I got you.
For the mess-free version I opted for yellow construction paper because that is what I had on hand however, a gold/glittery card stock will probably work as well as long as it is not too thick. Mess-Free: Step 4 Flatten out the paper towel roll cuffs and trace them onto a piece of yellow construction paper. Mess-Free: Step 5 Cut out the strips and adhere them to the paper towel roll cuffs (you can use glue or tape)
Mess-Free: Step 6
Attach the pink and green gems (again, with glue or tape) Mess-Free Step 7 Mold the bands into a more rounded shape to be more cuff like. You may need to tape the band around you'd child's wrist depending on how small their hands are Messy: Step 8 Start granting wishes!
