As parents we know that reading to our kids is important. There really is no such thing as being "too young" when it comes to reading to your child. Starting from the day you bring them home from the hospital you can read a book to your child. As they get older it may become harder to keep them from wiggling off your lap and finishing a story but that's why finding one that engages them is key. Enter, The Magic of Me: My Magical Words by Becky Cummings.

The Magic of Me My Magical Words: About the Book

Positive affirmations. Adults and children alike need positive affirmations.

The Magic of Me My Magical Words is a book of positive affirmations for children set to a very engaging rhyming scheme.
"Inside and outside your beauty shines bright.
You glow with love like the moon in the night.
True beauty comes from your heart deep inside.
It sneaks out and pops up, on your smile so wide."

Each page starts off in the first person with a big and bold, "I am" as the positive affirmation statement and then is followed by four lines or so of text that changes into second person and says "you are" explaining why the statement is true.

Example, "I am kind" is complimented with "you use your voice to say nice words".

The Magic of Me My Magical Words teaches children the power their words can have on themselves as well as others.

The Magic of Me My Magical Words: My Thoughts

I really enjoyed reading The Magic of Me My Magical Words to my children.

The rhyming scheme makes this read a lot of fun and easy for little ones to follow along.

The illustrations are beautiful and the children depicted are very diverse. Every child can see themselves in this book and I think that is so important.

The Magic of Me My Magical Words teaches children to talk about themselves positively with the "I AM" statements on each page which helps instill confidence in themselves.

The Magic of Me My Magical Words helps foster self-love at an early age.

At the start of the book there is a page titled "Tips for Reading with Children" where Becky Cummings includes three ways parents can engage with their children while reading The Magic of Me My Magical Words.

I found that to be very helpful. Often when we read to our children we do just that, read TO them, not WITH them.

These tips are helpful in growing your child's understanding for the story and keeping them engaged (and not wiggling off your lap).

The Magic of Me My Magical Words is the first in the Magic of Me series. Other titles include The Magic of Me My Magical Dreams and The Magic of Me My Magical Choices.

This seems so sweet. My little girl definitely seems to get carried along when there’s rhyming along so I imagine she’d enjoy this.
