WDW 50th Celebration

It's being called the World's Most Magical Celebration! Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida turns 50 in 2021 and they just made a major announcement about their birthday plans. The 18th month long (that's right! 18 months) will kick off October 1st!

Walt Disney World 50th Celebration

As we inch closer towards the 1 year anniversary of the first pandemic related closures in the US many were wondering how (or even IF) Walt Disney World would celebrate their 50th birthday.

So many of the experiences at Walt Disney World are currently scaled down or even closed due to social distancing restrictions, budget cuts and more.

BUT there is a, dare I say it - EARidescent light at the end of the tunnel. 

Today, Disney announced there will in fact be a 50th celebration for Walt Disney World and it will go on for 18 months, meaning that possibly, just possibly guests visiting in 2022 and early 2023 may experience a more "back to normal" Walt Disney World as restrictions and limitations are (hopefully) lifted and amended.

WDW 50th Celebration | New Outfits for Mickey & Minnie

Of course the MCs of this party are Mickey and Minnie! To commemorate the special time they will be wearing brand new, EARidescent outfits!

WDW 50th Celebration | Cinderella Castle's Makeover

Unlike their 25th anniversary (which, incidentally was my very first trip to Walt Disney World) the castle will NOT be turned into a birthday cake.

You may recall Cinderella's abode recently got a paint job and now for the 50th anniversary it will shimmer even more with EARidescent accents and royal blue ribbons.

WDW 50th Celebration | Celebrate In All 4 Parks

The party is not just taking place inside Magic Kingdom. Each of the other three parks will see their landmark light up with EARidescent colors:

• Spaceship Earth in EPCOT
• The Twilight Zone Tower of Tower in Disney's Hollywood Studios
• The Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom

Now that we know there will be a 50th celebration, I'll be keeping my eyes and EARS tuned to all things Walt Disney World to see what other announcements are made about this magical celebration!
