Tweety Gets the Crown in New Movie "King Tweety" | Movie Review

Animation’s cutest “widdle” canary, Tweety, learns he’s a royal descendant and the next in line to the throne in King Tweety a brand-new, full-length animated family film by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. 

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, King Tweety finds Tweety, Sylvester and Granny jet-setting to the Canary Islands where Tweety is inadvertently crowned king by the island locals. It’s a hilarious, fun-packed adventure featuring vibrant animation and music that will make you want to shake your tailfeathers! 

The DVD includes the new movie along with three bonus episodes:

King Tweety | About the Movie

​Tweety’s large and in charge as he takes the throne in this zany new, full-length movie.

When the queen of an island paradise disappears, Tweety unexpectedly becomes next in line for the crown. His Little Highness’ entourage includes motorbike daredevil Granny and sly Sylvester, whose allegiance is tested when he uncovers a sinister plot to eliminate Tweety for good!

​Feathers and fur will fly in this hilarious story that proves royalty – and loyalty – can come in many shapes and sizes.

King Tweety | Movie Review

This straight to DVD movie is a fun one to watch for grownups and kids alike! I grew up watching Looney Tunes and Tweety was always my favorite so it is exciting for me that these classic characters are still making new movies in the year 2022!

King Tweety features a different animation style than the "classic" toons but the colors here are extremely vibrant! It has admittedly been a minute since I watched Tweety cartoons but I never remembered Tweety and Sylvester directly talking to Granny and having her understand them and talk back! That was a big, "hey wait a minute" moment for me!

On the other hand, one thing inline with older Tweety cartoons are the scenes of "cartoon violence". No one is ever hurt for long and characters bounce back in the next scene but there are instances of falling off cliffs, trying to poison characters and things of that nature. 

Language is mild throughout King Tweety but there were a few words/phrases I noticed:

• Dumb
• Wack as heck
• Dweeb
• Butt-nut 
• Idiot 

King Tweety features a big, splashy musical number that I was not expecting but I really appreciated! I also liked the "it's cake" moment incorporated into King Tweety as a nod to a current viral trend.

This film bends the classic "cat vs. bird" trope found in Tweety cartoons of yesteryear in a welcome change along the same lines of the recently released Tom and Jerry straight to DVD film, Cowboy Up. No spoilers here though so you'll just have to watch King Tweety to see for yourself!

Tweety Turns 80!

Tweety's birthday is November 21st! To celebrate everyone's yellow feathered friend, 80 murals will pop up around the world! These works of art have already been unveiled in:
