Cedar Fair has announced changes to their policies for both Kings Island and Cedar Point (located in Mason and Sandusky, Ohio respectively) ahead of the opening of their 2021 seasons. One of the biggest changes revolves around masks and the new update may come as a surprise to many.

Policy Updates for Kings Island and Cedar Point

As we inch closer and closer to the 2021 operating season for Kings Island and Cedar Point, the parent company of Cedar Fair has announced some major updates to their polices put in place for reopening in 2020.

Policy Updates for 2021 | Kings Island

  • Reservations No longer required to visit Kings Island. Guests still need to purchase park tickets ahead of time online (tickets will not be sold at the gate) and guests still need to make reservations for Soak City Water Park.
  • Temperature Checks Discontinued. Guests will no longer have their temperature checked at the gate.
  • Healthy Screening at Front Gate. Guests will not have to fill out a health screening in the Kings Island mobile app ahead of their visit, employees will instead ask these questions at the front gate.
  • No Ride Capacity Limitations. Most rides will not have ride capacity limits in the 2021 season.
  • Masks Required for Ages 10+ When Inside. When Kings Island reopened in 2020, masks were required for guests 2 and up at almost all times. Now, children under the age of 10 won't have to wear one at all. Masks are required indoors for those ages 10 & up (including when riding indoor rides) unless actively eating and drinking.
  • Masks No Longer Required Outdoors. Masks are now only recommended for outdoor rides and are only required outdoors when 6 feet of distancing cannot be met. Again, this is only for those ages 10+.

As always, these policies are subject to change and I suggest you visit the Official Kings Island website for more detailed information for planning your 2021 visit!
