In 2019, Hersheypark unveiled plans for their "tallest, fastest and longest" rollercoaster, Candymonium as part of their 150 million dollar expansion titled "Chocolate Town". Now, after delaying the park's opening due to shutdowns and state restrictions, Hersheypark is ready to open on July 3rd with some of the previously announced updates completed. And yes, there will be Candymonium! Learn more about this brand new coaster and see what else is new at Hersheypark for 2020. HERSHEYPARK: New for 2020New At HersheyPark for 2020: CandymoniumWhat makes Candymonium the Tallest, Fastest and Longest rollercoaster in the park? Candymonium will feature a 210 foot ascent uphill, a "heart-pounding" drop, "seven camelback hills" and a "123 degree hammerhead curve". Candymonium reaches a speed of 76 MPH. Candymonium clocks in at 2 minutes and 26 seconds, with a 4,636 foot long (milk chocolate colored) track. Or, if you prefer to measure in chocolate bars, the track is 10,279 Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars long. Candymonium will feature three train cars all themed to a beloved Hershey's product; Hershey's Kisses, Reese's Peanut butter Cups, and Twizzler's Twists. As part of the expansion, the entrance to Hersheypark has been completely renovated. The entire front gate design has been changed and dedicated lines for season pass holders and guests at Hersheypark resorts have been created. The new entrance will also feature a Kisses themed fountain however, according to the official Hersheypark Instagram account, this fountain will not quite be ready come opening, July 3rd. New at HersheyPark for 2020: Kisses BoutiqueLooking for a sweet new outfit? Head to the brand new shop located in the "Founder's Way" region. Kisses Boutique will feature a collection of Hershey's Kisses themed items. Funfact! (per the Hersheypark Instagram account) this Starbucks sits on the location of the 1973 front gate. New at HersheyPark for 2020: Hershey Supply Co10,000 square feet of retail space. Let me say it again, 10,000 square feet of shopping!! The new store, Hershey Supply Co. will featuring Hershey themed apparel, toys and gifts. New at HersheyPark for 2020: Enhanced Safety MeasuresI would be remiss if I didn't mention the elephant in the room. With Hersheypark opening it's gates this summer there are of course changes that guests need to be made aware of. These changes have been put in place to keep guests and staff safe as we all dive headfirst into this current "new normal".
