Oliver the Ornament Review

I'm a big fan of traditions and most of my favorite traditions revolve around Christmas.  Oliver the Ornament combines two of my favorite things; reading books with my children and Christmas tradition! Every ornament tells a story and Oliver the Ornament knows them all. Find out what happens when two children discover a magical, talking ornament and see why Oliver the Ornament should become your family's new Christmas tradition.

After Thanksgiving, all of the ornaments in the Nelson family’s attic awake. They’re buzzing with excitement because they know it is time for them to go up on the tree.

Oliver, the Nelson’s first ornament suffered a bad break while in storage over the summer (literally). Because of this, a few of the other ornaments tease him and go so far as to play a really mean trick on him!

Luckily, Holly and Henry find Oliver (and discover that he can talk!) and he tells them how he became the first ornament their parents shared.

Oliver knows all of the ornaments' stories.
"Then Oliver told them stories about all
the different ornaments. One by one,
he called out his friends on the tree, telling
their stories, and how each of them was so
very special to Mom and Dad."

Oliver the Ornament: My Thoughts

Oliver the Ornament Gift Set Comes With Your Own Oliver Ornament
Oliver the Ornament manages to teach a lesson and tell a magical story.

Much like Rudolph, Oliver is bullied by some of his peers but in the end he ends up saving the day while remaining kind and staying true to himself and he even gets an apology from his bullies.

As always, when it comes to children’s books and reading to younger children, I like to give a heads up on if a book rhymes or not. Oliver the Ornament, does not.

Oliver the Ornament has beautifully illustrated, full page pictures.

I really like how expressive Holly and Henry's faces are as they listen to Oliver’s story, you can see the twinkle in their eyes as they experience the magic of talking ornaments and Christmastime.

A quick note to moms, dads, guardians, this book is on the longer side. My preschooler was able to stick with it however my toddler did squirm away before we were finished.

A really neat feature of Oliver the Ornament are the lined pages in the back of the book that encourage children to write down their own story.

Oliver the Ornament will be a perfect addition to your family’s Christmas traditions because when you purchase the Oliver the Ornament Gift Set you get not only the book, but your own Oliver to hang on your tree!
