What Should Darla Do? Review: My Thoughts
When I first stumbled upon What Should Darla Do? the first thing that stood out to me was our main character's glasses!
We recently had to get glasses for my older one and she is still (understandably) adjusting and in order to help I've been scouring the internet for TV show episodes and books featuring characters in glasses.
When What Should Darla Do? arrived the first thing she noticed was her glasses (and then her pink hair, because her favorite color is pink!) She was excited to see a young girl in glasses and immediately agreed to put her's on while we read the book.
The illustrations in What Should Darla Do? are brightly colored and very vibrant. They are also extremely detailed.
I really enjoyed reading this book, the length of each story is very manageable and the pages are not text-heavy which I think helped keep not only my pre-school aged child involved but also my toddler.
This book shows real-life situations that children may face:
The decisions we make in these moments have a larger impact on our day and What Should Darla Do? showcases this in a fun, easy to understand way.
Each ending serves as a conversation starter between parents/guardians and children to talk about why Darla had such a good or bad day and how differently her day would have gone had she made a different decision.

I love when I come across books that reiterate positive messages to the kids. Also the illustrations appear to be done very well in this book!

Interesting post. For my purposes, the most awesome aspect of kids' books are the vital statements that typify a whole book in a sentence or two. Nobody will at any point settle on "awesome" quotes, however here are a portion of my top choices!
