This summer I was invited to the Toy Insider's Sweet Suite, an invitation only event where toy companies showcase their newest lines. While walking the showroom I spotted this incredibly cool structure made of clear magnetic tiles and not only that, I noticed that some of the squares had drawings attached to them. I just had to learn more. Haven't heard of Squaregles? Keep reading!! Disclaimer: I was sent a Warm Up Set of Squaregles free for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Squaregles | New Magnetic Tile Toy Combines Building with ArtSqauregles is a combination of two things children love; drawing and building. Children can draw funny face pictures or road signs for their cars and also build houses and ramps! A toy set like this allows for kids to use their imagination and problem solve by figuring out how to build structures that stay up. If you're looking for a screen-free activity that will get your kids' creative juices flowing, Squaregles is it! The idea for Squaregles was based on the thought of having a toy that can grow with kids and challenge them to "build outside the box". Being parents themselves they noticed a void in their own kids' toy collection and Squaregles was born! Squaregles | A Great STEAM Toy for Ages 3+Squaregles allows kids to be creative not only in their building but also with their artwork. The Warm Up Set comes with six paperboards but each board is blank on both sides so that's room for 12 drawings! After each board is used you can easily cut a piece of paper and tape it over the drawing for more space or use a Post-It note for an even easier covering. Tip: Younger children may go through their paperboards quicker, in an effort to save the paperboards, start off with taping paper (or sticking Post-Its) onto the paperboards so you can tear it away as they use them. This will leave the paperboards clean for when they're a little older. The clear tile frames allow for the paperboard panels to pop in and out as well as the provided translucent squares and triangles. Building with Squaregles means no two designs will be the same! Squaregles promotes logical thinking and is screen-free fun! Squaregles | Honest ThoughtsSo what do I think of Squaregles?
I'll be honest, my kids already have a few different types of magnetic tile building toys (that they enjoy) but to me, what makes Squaregles stand out is the addition of the paperboards and the encouragement to draw. I also like the oddly cute, Ogg characters that come with the set. These little, round Oggs allow imaginative play to join in the Squaregles fun. My kids were building house for the Oggs to live in and play! Tip: When putting the Ogg on top of the car you will need to put their helmet on. Not just for setting a safety-first example for your kids but so the Ogg literally won't fall off of the car. It took my kids and I bit to figure this out. The Oggs and the car are not magnetic like I assumed they would be, so I could not figure out how to keep the Oggs on the car! Once I really looked at the helmet and the car, I could see a little slot where a piece of the helmet would snap in. I will say those few times down the ramp, our Ogg did not make it all the way. But we live and we learn! Something else I like about Squaregles is that all of the sets are compatible with each other. This is great as kids get older because they can build their Squaregles collection and create bigger and bigger structures! Squaregles are available for purchase at their official website, Squaregles.com! Related: Osmo | Tangible Items Meets Screentime
