Since becoming a mom trips to the mall or the store in general have became a lot less relaxing. Gone are the days of being able to try on a bunch of clothes and spend hours in a fitting room in order to find the perfect outfit or pair of jeans. Prior to being pregnant I had seen commercials for Stitch Fix but thought there was no way their stylists could possibly find me clothes I like (that fit) based off of an online survey. After giving birth I was desperate for new clothes in my new postpartum size and I found a discount code that would waive the $20 styling fee, so I really didn't have anything to lose. Now I've ordered Fixes from Stitch Fix a few times and I've learned how to get the best out of them. That's why I'm sharing 4 tips on how to ensure your next Fix from Stitch Fix is your best one yet.
4 Tips to Get Your Best Fix Ever from Stitch Fix
I've written about all of my Fixes from Stitch Fix, and I've gotten increasingly happy with each Fix. If you haven't tried Stitch Fix yet, scroll down to find a link to get $25 off your first Fix!
Tip 1: Link Your Fashion Board on Pinterest and Keep Pinning
Linking to a fashion or style board on Pinterest is something Stitch Fix recommends when you complete your Stitch Fix profile. This will only be helpful if the pins that are on this board are relevant to what you like currently and what you would like to wear in the future. Do not link to a board that you haven't pinned to in ages and don't stop pinning after you've linked it.
I truly believe they do (at the very least) a glance over your fashion board because I've seen similar pieces in my Fixes to what I've pinned. When I'm thinking of ordering a Fix, I pin some seasonally appropriate outfits to my board ahead of time. That way, if they do click through my board they'll see what I'm currently looking for and what vibe I'm trying to create with my wardrobe. Tip 2: Be Specific in Your Note
My first Fix, I threw caution to the wind and didn't leave a note. I wanted to see what they would send without any guidance. When I added a note on a Fix I felt that the stylist assigned to me not only read it, but thought about how each piece was appropriate.
For example, when I ordered a Fix and said I was attending a wedding in the fall and needed some outfits for pre-wedding events; bridal shower tea, rehearsal dinner, the note I received from my stylist explained which piece she thought would work for each event. That little extra step I took was met (and frankly exceeded) by my Stitch Fix stylist. If you're looking for something specific, let them know. Summer dresses, fall layers, ski trip - anything. This makes the Fix more tailored and allows the Fix to feel more cohesive. Tip 3: Download the Stitch Fix App
The Stitch Fix app is so user friendly and so easy to use. I schedule my Fixes through it, I decided what I'm keeping and what I'm sending back through it and, my favorite feature, I thumbs up and down pieces in their "Style Shuffle" feature.
Style Shuffle feels like a game to me. It is so much fun! Style Shuffle shows you individual pieces and then you click thumbs up if you like it, thumbs down if you don't. I imagine this is what a dating app feels like - I check it regularly and there are usually different categories; "Style for You", "This Just In", "Shoes", "Jackets" - they change frequently. This feature also ties into your next Fix and helps build out your style profile. I will say, don't just thumbs up your tried and true. Be sure to thumb up some things you'd be willing to try because I once received a Fix that was so perfect for me I had to send the whole thing back because I already had almost exact copies of the items in my closet! Tip 4: Opt to Keep Your Stylist
I noticed that once I opted to keep my same stylist my Fixes got better and better. She really learned my style and what I liked and didn't like. At this point she feels like an old friend suggesting outfits for me to try!
