If this isn't a book that sums up 2020 I don't know what is. Cami and Wyatt Have too Much Screen Time is a relatable tale of two adorable kangaroos that are glued to their tablets while their parents and friends try to coax them out of their respective rooms. The message is anything but subtle in this children's book and I think it will help open up conversations between parents and children about how when it comes to screentime, moderation is key.

For me, the scenarios painted in this book are a bit over-exaggerated and I imagine they were over-exaggerated on purpose to make a point.
Both Cami and Wyatt ignore not only ignore their friends pleas to get outside, they flat out ignore their parents! What I like about their conversation is both Cami and Wyatt realize on their own the activities they missed that day and come up with a list of things they can do INSTEAD of starring at their tablets. Cami and Wyatt mention writing in journals, building with blocks, riding bikes and playing with friends. This book also shows kids that parents are not free from the chains of screen time either when Cami and Wyatt go look for Mama Kangaroo once the thunderstorm has passed. To further the conversation about screen time between parents and kids, author, Stacy Bauer provides screen-less activity ideas from real life parents and kids at the end of the book! Cami and Wyatt are two, very adorable kangaroos featured in the very popular book series, Cami Kangaroo and Wyatt Too!
