The lovable Kangaroo family is back to teach children another important lesson. This time, Cami and Wyatt are learning how to practice patience. They are excited for a family fishing trip but things do not go exactly as they planned and this tests the patience of not only Cami and Wyatt but mom and dad Kangaroo too! The family talks through it and everyone has a great time on the trip, but do they catch any fish?

Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience shows children even mom and dad get frustrated

Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience: About the Book

Title: Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience
Written By: Stacy C. Bauer
Illustrated By: Rebecca Sinclair

Patience is something we can all stand to practice. Remembering to take a few deep breaths when we're frustrated before we speak or counting to 10 (or three see: The Life Motto I Learned from Family Matters) in order to take a step back and calm ourselves down.

These are lessons to be learned in Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience.

"'Look at that mess!' Daddy barked.
Cami and Wyatt Started Crying.
'I don't like fishing', Wyatt said tearfully.
'Me either,' Cami agreed. It's not fun.
We never catch anything.'
Daddy took a deep breath and blew it out."

Planning a family vacation or even just a day out on the water is fun but certainly comes with its frustration. The Kangaroo family face challenges that test their patience before they can even leave the house!

Will the entire day be doomed?

Cami and Wyatt (and mom and dad Kangaroo) can only stay positive for so long before the frustration seeps in and threatens everyone's good time.

Will they ever catch a fish (that's big enough to eat)?

When all hope feels lost the Kangaroo family bands together and are able to turn their day around.

A fishing trip is not about how many fish you catch (though it is nice to catch fish) but having fun and spending quality time with your family, making memories together.

Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience: My Thoughts

Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience from Author Stacy Bauer
Cami and Wyatt are two very relatable kid characters. When reading the things Cami and Wyatt say, it is not hard for me to imagine the same words coming out of my own kid's mouths.

In Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience the two kangaroos grow bored and frustrated as what they thought would be fun fishing trip turns into hours of not catching anything, tangled fishing line and lost worms.

The illustrations in this story are relatable too. When mommy Kangaroo is losing her patience as she waits for everyone to pack up and get in the car, I can see her rolling her eyes very clearly on the page (and I can feel the eye roll in my soul).

In being consistent with Stacy Bauer's previous title, Cami and Wyatt Have Too Much Screen Time, the lesson here is obvious, spelled out very clearly (though perhaps not as over exaggerated as in the aforementioned title) and talked through to a resolution.

What I really like in this story and in the series is how open the line of communication is between mom, dad, Cami and Wyatt. They talk things out as a family and solve the problem together.

I think children will understand the lesson here, sometimes things don't always go as planned but fun can still be had!

One thing I really like about Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience is the page at the end of the story that features tips for teaching kids patience from real life parents. Author, Stacy Bauer also features a collage of family photos from their boating trips that I think really adds a personal touch to this very relatable tale.

Cami and Wyatt Practice Patience is part of the Cami Kangaroo and Wyatt Too series and is available to purchase now.
