Related: The Magic of Me My Magical Words Children's Book Review What is a great way to show someone we care? Giving a gift! Now, before you accuse me of being materialistic, as Becky Cummings points out, gifts can be actions our children do like taking the family dog for a walk, calling a grandparent on the phone, or drawing a picture for a friend. The greatest gifts we can give someone we care about is our time and our attention. To Sisters:
Teaching our children to recognize the gifts others give to them; a compliment, or having someone share a toy with them during playtime is important so they realize they have many gifts they can bestow on others around them!
The Magic of Me My Magical Gifts | My Thoughts
Brightly colored illustrations with a diverse set of characters, Becky Cummings' The Magic of Me My Magical Gifts seeks to teach children the importance of kind acts, and kind words and how these things are gifts they can share with their loved ones.
Each page starts off with a to line, "To Friends", "To Neighbors", "To Sisters", and "To People in Need". After each to line is the same, whimsical rhyme scheme as featured in the previous books of the series. The first book, "My Magical Words" teaches children to say nice things about themselves, the second, "My Magical Choices" illustrates how their choices can change their day (I choose to be calm), and the third book, "My Magical Dreams" provides prompts for children to think about what they want to do in life (bake cakes, travel to far away places, become president!) Related: The Magic of Me My Magical Choices Children's Book Review "My Magical Gifts" feel like the right next step in helping empower our children by showing them the impact they can have on their community and their loved ones. I love that no one is left out; grandparents, teachers, aunts & uncles, brothers & sisters, parents and people in need. The Magic of Me My Magical Gifts can certainly be a stepping stone to start having children get involved in philanthropy like volunteering, collecting cans for a food pantry, and donating toys and clothes they have out grown. What I love about "My Magical Gifts" (and all of the books in this series) is that it teaches an important lesson to children without coming off as teaching something to them. The messages are subtle and are great conversation starters between children and parents/care takers. I cannot say this enough, if you haven't picked up the "Magic of Me" series by Becky Cummings I highly recommend you do. These books are great for boys and girls! About the Author
